Allegheny County, researchers release study on racial disparity in criminal justice system

PITTSBURGH — A report addressing racial disparities within all levels of the criminal justice system in Allegheny County was released Tuesday.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh Police Chief Larry Scirotto joined researchers for a press conference detailing the findings.

The report, which is nearly 250 pages long, was commissioned by Pitt’s Institute of Politics and was conducted by two research organizations, the RAND Corporation and RTI International.
