PITTSBURGH — The first eaglet of 2023 has hatched in the Hays bald eagle nest.
According to a news release, the egg hatched just after noon on Sunday.
Two eggs were laid this year, and the next egg is expected to hatch in the next few days.
Now that there is an eaglet in the nest, an adult bald eagle will stay on the nest constantly. The adult eagles will bring back food to the nest and tear the food into small pieces for the eaglet.
Adults will be seen leaning over to feed the eaglet.
