PITTSBURGH — Movie theater chain Cinemark has announced that it will be reopening as soon as July 1.

The CEO outlined the plan on a call Wednesday, and said the chain would start by showing old films from its library and ramp up to the premier of “Tenet” on July 17.

“Tenet” is an action thriller from Christopher Nolan that has been slated for a July 17 release since it was announced.

This will be the first major motion picture released in several months, with notable films including “Top Gun Maverick,” “Mulan,” "Fast and Furious 9″ and “No Time To Die” all having their releases delayed.

Cinemark owns five theaters in our area: North Hills (Cranberry), Settlers Ridge, Monroeville Mall, Pittsburgh Galleria and Township Marketplace (Monaca).

Other theater groups have not announced their reopening plans yet.
