PITTSBURGH — Tonight, homes and buildings across Pittsburgh will be lit up to thank frontline staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Illumination-Ovation, as it’s being called by organizers, was inspired by similar events across Europe.
Today at 8 p.m. and next Tuesday at 8 p.m., people are being asked to show their support with a round of applause and show of light for healthcare workers, first responders, grocery store employees, delivery drivers and others who are considered essential during the pandemic.
“Join from your balconies, porches, and yards while practicing social distancing. Participants are encouraged to clap their hands in a collective round of applause and light their homes, buildings, and neighborhoods by using lights including holiday lights, porch lights, flashlights, and phones,” a post from event organizers said.
