MT. LEBANON — After a two-year break because of COVID-19, Martha’s Run returned this morning to Mt. Lebanon.
Martha’s Run 10K road race started from Mt. Lebanon High School.
The run has been raising money for local playgrounds in memory of slain FBI Special Agent Martha Dixon.
It was Nov. 22 1994, when an armed gunman entered the FBI Washington Field Office and opened fire, injuring one and killing three others, including Martha.
Martha’s family channeled their grief into efforts to continue her two passions — running and children.
This is the 26th year for Martha’s Run, which has funded the construction and renovation of over 20 playgrounds in the Pittsburgh area.
Each year, many law enforcement officers attend the race as a show of support.
