PITTSBURGH — If you live or work in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, you can expect even more headaches from the Riverfront Landing construction for the next two-plus years.
A 30-month closure of Railroad Street/Waterfront Place went into effect Thursday between 16th and 18th streets, and traffic will be detoured even further out.
People driving east (outbound from downtown) will be detoured onto Smallman Street at 15th Street. Drivers heading toward the city will be detoured onto Smallman at 21st Street.

A release from the city said pedestrians and bike riders will still be able to use Railroad Street through most of the project, but they will also be detoured to Smallman Street at times.
During this time, the NRG Construction Group will build two five-story apartment buildings with a total of 442 units, a parking garage and a swimming pool.
Construction on the Produce Terminal and other projects in the area will also be continuing during this time.
