Officer hears screams near thrift store, finds man bleeding from multiple stab wounds

AVALON, Pa. — A police officer on patrol near a thrift store on Route 65 in Avalon reported hearing screams for help and then found a man who was bleeding from the chest.

Police said the victim was stabbed in the 800 block of Ohio River Boulevard and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said the the victim and a suspect, 39-year-old Patrick Giesy, were arguing over a woman. During the argument, Giesy “produced an edged weapon” and stabbed the victim multiple times before he ran off.

Police said they are still searching for Giesy.
