FOREST HILLS, Pa. — Cookies and kindness were the theme of an annual event to honor a 17-year-old who died from undiagnosed Chron’s Disease.

The Caileigh Lynn McDowell Foundation hosted the event at the Westinghouse Lodge in Forest Hills.

McDowell was a senior at Woodland Hills High School when she died in 2016.

The foundation in her honor has awarded over $80,000 in scholarship money to Woodland Hills High School seniors.

“She was genuinely a connector of people,” her aunt Lynn Banaszak said.

This was the first time the event was held in person in five years.

There was a cookie table, a hot chocolate bar, a bloom bar and a kindness pop-up shop.

The organization has distributed nearly 40,000 kindness cards.
