SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police are looking for information after a man’s body was dumped in a Scott Township alleyway.
The medical examiner identified the victim as 43-year-old Lavarr Carroll of Bridgeville.
Carroll, a well-known landscaper in the South Hills, is being remembered across social media for his kindness and funny personality.
Allegheny County homicide detectives say Carroll’s body was dumped in the alley around 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
Channel 11 obtained surveillance video from a nearby business that shows a man in a blue T-shirt getting out of a vehicle, spilling a liquid in the parking lot, and then dumping Carroll’s body before speeding away.
“Nothing ever like this has ever happened. I was so shocked to hear it,” Marion French told Channel 11. French has lived off that alley for seven years, and says everyone in the neighborhood is welcoming and kind.
“I just hope it’s not someone around here who caused this. I’d like to be able to sit on my porch and say hi to everyone and ‘God bless you’ and so on.”
County police say they have recovered the vehicle they believe was used in this crime. They’re asking any witnesses or anyone with information on who was in the vehicle to contact them. They also say there was no trauma to Carroll’s body.
