PITTSBURGH — For the first time in four years, students got to go to prom in person at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children.
Students made a grand entrance on the red carpet Friday morning for the Hollywood-themed dance. They were also able to help with planning the prom.
About 70 students dressed up for the big day.
“Here at the school celebrations are such an important part of our culture,” said Ryan Reagan. “This is another major milestone for many of our students to be able to have a prom just like typical students.”
Teachers and staff helped them get ready and even donated some of the clothes for students to wear.
The school serves kids with blind and visual impairments and additional disabilities.
