ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — The Woodland Hills School District board of directors voted to approve a budget plan that would reduce property taxes.
This is the first time in district history, a 41-year time period, that property taxes have been reduced.

According to a news release, the budget passed on an 8-1 vote.
“Our plan is to continue to provide this relief,” Superintendent Dr. Daniel Castagna said. “We’re trying to chip away at something that has been a major problem for our families, has pushed some residents away, or kept others from moving in.”
The reduction will save residents an estimated $80 per $100,000 of assessed value.
As 11 News has previously covered, the decision will lead to four administrator positions being cut and 16 full-time teacher furloughs.
