Allegheny Health Network names new president of Allegheny General Hospital

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny Health Network has named the Dr. Imran Qadeer as the the new president of Allegheny General Hospital.

Qadeer has been the hospital’s interim president since the start of 2022. He began his career with AHN when was hired as an academic hospitalist medicine staff member in 2009. Qadeer was later appointed to leadership roles within the company including chief medical officer, medical director, lead chief medical director, lead physician advisor and chief quality officer.

“Dr. Qadeer is an exceptionally talented clinician and physician leader who has a deep understanding of and appreciation for the vital, historic role that Allegheny General Hospital plays in the health and well-being of our region,” said Cynthia Hundorfean, president and CEO of AHN.

Officials from AHN recognized Qadeer as a pivotal member of AHN and Highmark Health’s COVID-19 pandemic response team. He also helped lead the network’s vaccination campaign.

Qadeer was born in Karachi, Pakistan and received a medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine.

Allegheny General Hospital is recognized by the company as the flagship academic medical center and its highest-volume hospital.
