An Amish buggy flipped on its side after collision with vehicle

WILMINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An Amish buggy was flipped on its side after it was struck by a vehicle on Route 208 in Lawrence County.

Police say the buggy was heading west from the town of Volant in Wilmington Township when it was struck from behind by the passenger vehicle.

The woman driving the buggy was able to free herself while also holding on to the horse’s reins to stop the animal from escaping.

She was not injured during the accident. The horse suffered cuts on its legs.

People nearby helped to push the buggy upright after the accident.

Police say the driver of the passenger vehicle left the scene after the accident but returned half an hour later. Police say the sun facing the driver’s eyes may have contributed to the crash. It is unclear if any charges will be filed.
