PITTSBURGH — Just months after closing a deal that gave it a physical presence in Pittsburgh, the region’s second-largest credit union has a deal in place to stretch its footprint into Erie County.
Armco Credit Union on Monday said it expects to merge with Corry Jamestown Credit Union in June. The transaction will add one branch, bringing Armco’s total to six, and marks its 10th such deal in 30 years.
Armco CU, based in Butler, was launched by a small group of Armco Steel workers in 1935, founded with $900 in deposits by 15 members. Now it has $600 million in assets and 41,000 members in 50 states. It acquired Swindell Dressler Credit Union in summer 2024.
