PITTSBURGH — An armed person who may have been suffering a mental health crisis was taken into custody on Tuesday.
University of Pittsburgh police said multiple agencies responded to the area of Niagara Street and Boulevard of the Allies for a person armed with a weapon.
Pittsburgh police later said that the response was for someone believed to be having a mental health crisis. A postal worker and neighbor contacted officers out of concern after seeing a person with a gun.
The person was taken into custody without incident and taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.
