After just 72 hours of investigating, Jason Banks Jr. is behind bars at the Beaver County Jail. He’s facing homicide and assault charges and the District Attorney said it was a result of domestic violence.
“She definitely loved her siblings, I’d say that she would do anything for us,” said Zxavian Willis who’s Treonna Washington’s brother.
Willis holds back tears as he talks about his sister.
“She was as happy as she could be when she was, parts that people didn’t see because they just saw her on social media not the parts we got to see,” Willis said.
This family is devastated by the murder of Treonna. The Beaver County DA Nate Bible confirmed Banks was her boyfriend and was arrested for her murder.
“Just goes to show domestic violence is real, a lot of people don’t know what she was really going through and I wish we were able to do more,” Willis said.
According to court paperwork, Banks Jr. was caught on video the night before Treonna’s body was found physically assaulting her while attempting to push her down a flight of stairs.
“We deal with domestic violence cases constantly and often times unfortunately the abuse does not want to go forward with pressing charges and this is an example if you are a victim of domestic violence on why it is so important for you to come forward so you don’t end up like this poor girl,” Bible said.
It was just before a shot fired was called into Aliquippa Police where the complaint states video shows Washington, Banks Jr. and a second man on Wade Street, where her body was later found.
That other man told police he didn’t see Banks Jr. shoot Washington, but heard one gunshot and said Banks Jr. was standing over her body and said to him, “Don’t say nothing, don’t tell nobody.”
“She just needed help, she was in a very dangerous situation, and we just weren’t able [to],” Willis said.
The investigation is ongoing with State Police and Aliquippa Police.
