INDUSTRY, Pa. — Residents in Industry are concerned about speeding along Route 68 following a fatal crash Wednesday night.

The posted speed limit is 35 mph. but people who live there say drivers are going much faster than that on the road.
“51 in just the past year and a half we have had a significant increase in speeding cars and a significant increase in speeding truck traffic,” said Kelli Zachodni from Industry.
Zachodni said she sees a lot of accidents in the area. She will not even walk from her business to her home, which are located right across the street from one another on Midland Beaver Road.
“I live right across the street its not even 100 feet from my front door to this front door and I have to drive because I just don’t feel safe,” said Zachodni.
There are two factors she believes could be playing a role in speeding. The first is that Industry does not have a police department anymore. The department used to set up speed traps and was later disbanded.
Tolls on I-376 also increased, so more cars began taking Route 68 to avoid them.
A major concern for some is the fact that a lot of families live on Route 68, many of them with small children.
“Several of them tell me they don’t even let their kids play in the front room of their houses because they are scared a car is going to come through their front door,” said Zachodni.
