Neighborhood locked down for hours due to SWAT standoff in Aliquippa

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Police blocked off a neighborhood in Aliquippa for hours during a SWAT standoff situation.

Police were called to Wykes Street at Griffith Street around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. That is near Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Aliquippa police, state troopers and Beaver County Sheriff’s Office deputies were all over the neighborhood searching a number of homes for someone. However, investigators could not specify who they were looking for or for what reason.

According to Beaver County 911, no one was taken to the hospital.

Many people who live in the area were wondering what was going on, especially those who had their homes searched.

One woman told Channel 11 her neighbor called to let her know that officers searched her house.

The details surrounding what led to the SWAT situation are still unclear. We are trying to figure out if police are looking for more than one person.
