Ben Roethlisberger sends signed gear to fans who missed final home game due to snow

PITTSBURGH — Two Steelers fans left Oak Island, North Carolina at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 3 to get to Heinz Field to see the team take on the Browns, in what could have been Ben Roethlisberger’s final home game, but they never made it.

Snowy conditions left Taylor Mooney and Bailey Ferguson stranded on I-95, just 26 miles north of Richmond.

“If Ben ever sees this we did try our best to be there,” Mooney told Channel 11 News in an interview, shortly after her post about missing the game on Facebook went viral.

Well, Ben Roethlisberger did see Channel 11′s story, and he sent both Mooney and Ferguson a signed pair of game-used cleats, and a set of game-used gloves.

“I have honestly in my life NEVER been more excited to come home and open any package,” Mooney wrote in a Facebook post. “Thank you Big Ben for not only something physical I can keep and cherish forever but for all the work you put into the Pittsburgh Steelers throughout your years.”
