WASHINGTON — A bomb squad was called to Washington to investigate a suspicious item.
Washington County dispatchers say emergency crews were sent to the E Wylie Avenue and Jefferson Street intersection at 3:19 p.m. on Sunday.
The City of Washington Police Department said officers saw an object they believed could have been explosive on the road.
The roads were shut down immediately.
The Allegheny County Police Department confirmed their Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit was called to the scene to assist in this situation.
At 6:10 p.m., police confirmed the item was not explosive. The bomb squad is still working to learn exactly what the item is.
The roadway has been reopened and police say there is no threat to the public.
