SHALER, Pa. — A bullet was found on a bus servicing the Shaler Area School District Wednesday. On Thursday, police announced that no charges will be filed.
Superintendent Dr. Bryan O’Black said the bullet was found on a bus after the elementary school pickup. The bus also serviced the high school and middle school.
Wednesday afternoon, O’Black said investigators found no credible threat to students or staff.
Thursday, police said an 8th-grade student was at a camp over the weekend with friends and he had a left-over round in his pocket.
The student forgot the bullet was there, and reached into his pocket to get out his phone on the bus. That’s when police say the bullet fell out.
The boy’s parents confirmed the camping trip details.
“There was no ill intent in this case and no threat to the safety of the school students or staff,” police said.
