BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — Butler County was one of the areas hardest hit from Saturday’s storm. Strong winds uprooted trees, shutting down roads and causing major power outages. Channel 11 saw crews working to restore power on Monday.
In the Point Plaza along New Castle Road, most of the stores were running on only half power. Some were closed, including an eye care center.
“My daughter had an appointment next door to see the eye doctor and they cancelled because they didn’t have power,” said Kathie Smith.
Smith works next door at the Scrapbook Super Station and said only half of their lights were working.
“It’s rough. Fortunately, our computers are working and network so we can process sales, but our furnace isn’t working,” said Smith.
The spokesperson for West Penn Power said about 3,000 people were still without power in Butler County on Monday, but everyone should be restored by Tuesday night.
“It’s nice we can still do transactions, but people think we are not open because they see the lights are out and we are trying to stay open,” said Smith.
Some people are nervous since another severe storm is expected to hit our area on Wednesday. The power company said they are prepared and are monitoring the weather closely.
