Child 1 of 3 injured in multi-vehicle crash on Parkway

PITTSBURGH — A child riding in a school vehicle was one of three people injured in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on the Parkway.

The accident was reported around 3:30 p.m. where the Parkway splits -- one way onto the Boulevard of the Allies and the other into downtown Pittsburgh.

Investigators said the Parkway was closed inbound from exit 72 all the way into the city while crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.

Chopper 11 flew over the Parkway and showed heavy backups around 4:30 p.m. By 5:30 p.m., traffic appeared to be moving regularly.

The child’s name, age and condition have not been released. He or she was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital.

The other two people injured were taken to Allegheny General Hospital. Their names and conditions haven’t been released.
