COLLIER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police in Collier Township are investigating a sexting incident at Chartiers Valley High School.
Authorities said nude photos of 15-year-old girl are circulating through students’ cellphones.
Officials have not released the girl’s name.
According to police, the girl may face charges for taking the pictures and anyone with the picture on their phone could be charged with child pornography.
Collier Township Police Sgt. Eric Davis said the girl sent the photos to her boyfriend originally, and they may or may not have gone viral.
“We’re still trying to conduct our investigation and determine how many saw the photos,” Davis said.
Davis said he doesn’t think students understand how serious the incident is.
Parents in Chartiers Valley said they were disappointed about the incident, but not necessarily surprised.
“It’s kind of sad, but no I’m not surprised because it’s everywhere,” Patty Diskin said. “They should know better, but it also falls back on parents to know what they’re doing.”
School officials declined to comment on the situation aside from saying they have turned the matter over to Collier Township Police.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
