City of Pittsburgh, DPW satisfied with response to Friday’s snowfall

PITTSBURGH — The City of Pittsburgh is happy with Friday’s response and is already looking ahead to the next storm.

The city is already gearing up for its next snow storm after crews definitely had their work cut out for them Friday morning.

We just spoke with the director of the Department of Public Works about the new plans now underway.

“We’re licking our wounds a little bit. We’re gonna do some truck maintenance over the weekend. We’re just getting our resources lined up to get ready to get back at it Sunday,” Chris Hornstein said.

Channel 11 crews were all across the city Friday morning checking out the roadways.

DPW is overall satisfied with how things went, saying they pretreated ahead of this storm.

We did see a lot of clear pavement by late morning, and spoke with folks who didn’t have complaints.

“I think they did pretty good, but they tried their best. I mean, the snow’s still kinda building up, but they tried their best to salt it, and stuff like that,” Jeremy McClung said.

Some trucks did go down with this storm but maintenance is underway and they expect to have about 60 out for the storm Sunday into Monday.
