Exposed metal grates and circular saws are seen on the sidewalk at the intersection of Penn and Millvale Avenues.
The construction is part of the city’s three-year plan of improvements along the Penn Avenue corridor, but parents said it could be potentially dangerous.
After the Department of Public Works asked Channel 11 to see photos of the site, they released the following statement:
“Safety at a job site, especially near a bus stop, is of utmost importance. We appreciate you and parents bringing this to our attention.”
The Department of Public Works also said they plan to talk to the contractor on Thursday.
