Clear surveillance photo shows Cranberry Giant Eagle robber

CRANBERRY, Pa. — Police have released surveillance footage of a man who robbed a Butler County Giant Eagle Monday afternoon.

According to police, the Cranberry Giant Eagle on Route 19 was robbed just before 3 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said the man approached the hot food register and demanded money. The cashier told officers that the man threatened that he had a gun.

“It was strange because he had to walk through the store, past the produce and into the coffee shop, at least 50 feet to get there,” Cranberry Township police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said.

The cashier eventually gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, and he left the store on foot.

No employees or customers were injured during the incident.

“It’s a very busy store with a lot of people. We’re just glad no one was hurt,” Mascellino said.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to contact police.
