3 hurt, including 2 children, when SUV crashed into semi on I-70

SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Part of I-70 shut down in Washington County because of a crash involving a semi.

Washington County 911 confirmed to Channel 11 that a semi and SUV crashed on westbound I-70 around 8:50 a.m.

South Strabane Township Department of Fire & Emergency Management Chief Jordan Cramer said first responders found an SUV crashed into the back of a semi, with the driver entrapped. There were also two children in the rear passenger seats.

Cramer said it took more than 20 minutes to free the trapped driver. The driver was flown to Allegheny General Hospital, while the children were taken by ambulance to Children’s Hospital.

An alert on the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation 511 map stated westbound I-70 was closed between Exit 25 (PA 519 Eighty Four/Glyde) and Exit 21 (I-79 South - Morgantown).
