Crews in Allegheny County respond to fires located minutes away from each other within two hours

ALLEGHENY COUNTY — Firefighters in Allegheny County had a busy night after responding to two house fires in locations minutes away from each other over the course of just a few hours.

The first fire occurred at the 600 block of Middle Avenue in Wilmerding. Crews received a call for the fire at around 6:33 p.m.

The fire began at an apartment duplex. Residents were believed to be inside the building but were able to evacuate.

Channel 11 observed the Salvation Army on the scene.

The second fire began just over an hour after the first. The call to dispatchers was made at 7:45 p.m. It was escalated to a two-alarm fire at 7:53 p.m.

The two-alarm fire began on Maple Avenue in Turtle Creek.

The Turtle Creek fire chief said that the house is believed to be vacant. There were no injuries from this fire.

It is unclear at this time if the fires are related, and the causes are still being investigated.
