NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — One person is dead after a house fire in New Kensington.
Westmoreland County dispatchers told Channel 11 crews were called to Kennedy Avenue for a house fire with entrapment just before noon on Saturday.
Fire officials said extensive damage was done to the inside of the home.
A 4-year-old child was rescued from the home.
Investigators said one other person who was also rescued from the home was initially taken to a hospital. The Westmoreland County Coroner confirmed Saturday evening that one person had died in Allegheny County after the fire.
“The New Kensington Police Department did an outstanding job and the New Kensington Fire Department did a very diligent job of trying their best to remove the person that was trapped,” New Kensington Fire Chief Ed Saliba Jr. said.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
