Firefighter suffers medical emergency while at scene of house fire in East Hills

PITTSBURGH — A firefighter suffered a medical emergency at the scene of a house fire in Pittsburgh’s East Hills on Wednesday night.

Emergency crews were called to the 700 block of Wilkinsburg Avenue around 9 p.m., Allegheny County 911 said.

Our crew saw a firefighter being treated by medics. They were taken to a local hospital from the scene.

Pittsburgh Public Safety confirmed the firefighter had a medical emergency. We’re working to get an update on their condition.

Departments across the region are posting messages of prayer for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire on social media.

“Emsworth VFC sends our thoughts and prayers to the men and women of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire tonight. While the situation continues to unfold, we pray for a positive outcome for one of their members,” Emsworth Volunteer Fire Company wrote.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire tonight,” the McKeesport Bureau of Fire said.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters of Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire,” South Baldwin Volunteer Fire Company said.
