Woman accused of starting apartment fire at Allegheny Commons

PITTSBURGH — Crews responded to a fire in an apartment at Allegheny Commons just before 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to Public Safety officials, a female resident faces arson charges for the one-alarm fire in the 200 block of E Ohio Street.

She was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.


There were no injuries reported, however, the residents of at least six units will likely be temporarily displaced, officials said.

Those residents will receive help from the Red Cross.

Four cats and one dog were rescued from the apartment where the fire happened.
