Crowd of Panthers faithful send women’s volleyball team off to Final Four

PITTSBURGH — The Pitt women’s volleyball team is on a historic run, advancing to the Final Four for the fourth time in four years.

On Tuesday, the team left for Louisville, Kentucky, where the National Semifinals will be played later this week.

When the Panthers walked to their busses, crowds of Pitt faithful were there to send them off. This send-off has become somewhat of an annual event.

This time, everyone hopes the Final Four trip will be a little different from the previous three, where the team lost in the National Semifinal.

The upcoming match is a unique challenge for the Panthers. They face Louisville on Thursday, in Louisville. So, their opponent has a clear home-court advantage.

Kylee Levers, a member of Pitt’s first Final Four team back in 2021, believes this team is built to overcome that kind of challenge.

“This will be their third meeting this year. I think all of those variables being familiar with the team, with the atmosphere and then of course having Pitt fans down there as well, I think they’re going to be set up for success,” she said.

All eyes will be on sophomore Olivia Babcock when the Panthers and Cardinals play. On Tuesday morning, she was named one of four finalists for the AVCA National Player of the Year.
