Deadly Swissvale shooting has neighbors concerned; some considering moving away

SWISSVALE, Pa. — A deadly shooting has people on edge in a normally quiet Allegheny County neighborhood.

Neighbors are concerned after a man was shot and killed inside an apartment on Dickson Street in Swissvale.

One couple is so concerned, they told Channel 11 that they’re thinking about moving.

“It’s pretty disheartening. My wife and I were actually on our way to a concert and just left our house nearby,” Brandon Jennings said.

A Channel 11 crew on scene Saturday saw detectives gathering evidence. Police say someone who rents out the apartment asked a family member to check on the place. Police say the door was unlocked and the man was then discovered inside.

A neighbor who didn’t want to be identified tells Channel 11 that her boyfriend heard several gunshots.

“Yeah I’m scared it’s scary,” she said. “It always concerns me when they don’t find the shooter.”

No one has been arrested yet.

Jennings said he thinks the violence is a big problem.

“There was a drive-by down the street earlier this year and the triple shooting at the mart on the corner,” he said. “For us, it’s kind of just another string of violence of incidents happening in the neighborhood.”

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Allegheny County Police Department.
