Death of a New Castle 1-year-old ruled a homicide

PITTSBURGH — The death of a baby is being investigated as a homicide.

According to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner, 1-year-old Noah O. Santiago died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and trunk. The child died on Jan. 19 at around 10:55 p.m. at UPMC Children’s after being found unresponsive at a home and brought to the facility for care.

The baby was from New Castle and died at UPMC Children’s Hospital.

New Castle Police confirmed they are investigating and waiting for forensics to come back.

At this time, no charges have been filed.
