CORAOPOLIS, Pa. — A delivery truck caught an overhead wire near the corner of Main Street and 6th Avenue in Coraopolis on Thursday morning, according to Coraopolis police.

The tension created caused the pole to snap and begin to fall over.

Neighbors said the incident happened just after 6 a.m.

“I did not expect to walk out the door and see a pole down,” said Phil DiCicco, who was walking by with his son Anthony. They live just up the road and walk by the area all the time.

They were headed to church Thursday morning when the downed wires caught their attention.

Police set up temporary barriers and blocked off Main Street for several hours so Verizon crews could repair the lines.

“We can get around it if we need to get back home if we’re driving, but obviously it’s kind of the main street and kind of a busy area,” said DiCicco.

The power lines hang higher and were not hit by the truck, so there were no reported power outages.
