WILKINSBURG — Allegheny County detectives spent Thursday morning investigating at a Wilkinsburg home where a man was shot and later died at the hospital.

The home is on North Avenue, near the MLK Jr. East Busway and a People’s Gas facility. Investigators said they were called to the scene around 1 a.m. A Channel 11 photographer at the scene saw several detectives inside and outside the home, as well as one person being taken away in an ambulance.

The 58-year-old man died at an area hospital, police said. He was identified as Rodney Thornton.

Detectives determined an argument occurred inside the residence between Thornton and 52-year old George Edwin Booker, and during the argument Booker shot him.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Booker charging him with Criminal Homicide and Persons Not To Possess a Firearm.

Booker is described as a black male, 6′00″ in height, 175 lbs. in weight. Booker is known to frequent the Homewood, Wilkinsburg and McKees Rocks areas.

Anyone who sees Booker should use caution and contact 911. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS
