FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two dogs at the Humane Society of Greene County are recovering after being severely neglected. Zoey and Stormy were starved so badly that the animal shelter said they were worried they wouldn’t survive. Shelter officials said it’s one of the worst cases they have ever seen.
“They were some of the most malnourished dogs that I have ever seen in my 36 years at the humane society,” said Craig Wise, the Vice President of the Humane Society of Greene County.
On Oct. 9, CYS contacted state troopers to report animal abuse of two dogs. They were found in a home living in severely poor conditions in Franklin Township.

“They were literally bags of bones. Stormy in particular was unable to lift her head. I don’t think she would have been around much longer if state police hadn’t intervened,” Wise said.
State police brought both dogs to the Humane Society of Greene County to receive care. Zoey is getting a lot better. Stormy was touch and go but is now continuing to improve.
“Stormy is a little bit shy. She is getting more playful. She wags her tail. She’s very pleasant. Zoey is just a bundle of energy and wants to run around and jump up and interact with you,” said Wise.
Wise said it appears both dogs were neglected for weeks if not months. State police said they are filing criminal charges against David White, Holly White and Angel Jeffries of Waynesburg.
At this point, both dogs are 75% healed and continue to get treatment from the vet. Right now, the shelter is asking for the public’s help and collecting donations to help Zoey and Stormy.
”We could always use donations because if not them, we will be more dogs that need care like that,” Wise said.
Once the dogs are fully healed and get the okay from the vet, they will be available for adoption.
