Driver, 2 Troopers taken to hospital after vehicle vs. pedestrian accident

PITTSBURGH — A driver and two Pennsylvania State Police Troopers were taken to the hospital after a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident on I-279 North near mile marker 3.

According to a release, around 1 a.m. Tuesday a Ford Focus attempted to pull off the roadway after their car was disabled. A passerby pulled over to assist the driver move the disabled car, when a black Dodge Ram 1500 struck the person assisting.

The truck fled from the scene.

The person that was struck was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital.

During PSP’s investigation a Toyota 4Runner struck a marked state police car that had its emergency lights on.

There were two Troopers inside the vehicle and they have been taken to the hospital.

Anyone with information regarding the Black Dodge Ram 1500 can call PSP Pittsburgh 412- 787-2000. This incident remains under investigation.
