PLEASANT HILLS, Pa. — Police have released dash cam video of the violent police chase in Pleasant Hills on Sunday that injured 10 people, including the driver of the car being chased.
Investigators said the chase began when Stephen Roberts hit a car near Pep Boys on Route 51 and fled the scene.
Police said Roberts hit several cars at the Southland Shopping Plaza as he tried to get away from officers.
Pam Amicarella was in a car that Roberts hit during his run.
“I was just in shock. I braced myself because I knew he was going to hit me. I was worried he was going to go over top of me because he was in a truck,” Amicarella said. “He pretty much messed up a lot of people’s lives because he was stupid. Personally, I hope he gets a lot of jail time.”
Roberts eventually crashed into a nearby guardrail, police said.
“He was very lucky. There were people walking through that parking lot and he could have easily killed any adult or child walking around,” Amicarella said.
Witnesses said people had to run out of the way for safety.
"It sounded more like a bumper pool game than anything else. He would hit something and then turn and go a different way," said one witness.
Police said it appears Roberts was drinking before the chase began.
