PITTSBURGH — An electrical incident caused a large response from firefighters in East Liberty.
Allegheny County dispatchers said firefighters were called to the 100 block of North Highland Avenue at 5:05 p.m. on Friday.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials originally said there was an underground electrical fire. It knocked off two manhole covers.
Guests at the nearby Indigo Hotel had to be evacuated from the building as a precaution.
No injuries were reported.
At 9:41 p.m., Duquesne Light Company said there was not a fire. They said the situation involved two underground circuits that are now out of service. The situation resulted in a power outage for roughly 500 customers for a period of time.
