ELIZABETH TWP., Pa. — Channel 11 has learned that an anonymous tip has placed a school employee with Elizabeth Forward on suspension.
“This is children, they are all minors. You have no business messing with a minor,” said Bert Gulaskay.
Gulaskay’s feelings are in line with those of a number of people in the Elizabeth community.
On Tuesday, the Elizabeth Forward superintendent put out a message that a school employee has been suspended after an anonymous complaint and that police are investigating.
“It’s just a shame that in this day and age we are supposed to be so enlightened, and someone would abuse their power over a child. I don’t care if they are 17 or 7. It’s illegal and it’s immoral that’s somebody’s child,” Gulaskay said.
The Elizabeth Township police chief tells Channel 11 the investigation is still in the early stages, but the victim in the case is a juvenile.
It’s not clear yet whether the incident happened on school grounds or off.
The chief added that detectives are combing through the social media footprints of both the employee and the victim.
“It’s a scary situation like I said if they had messed with my grandson god help them,” Gulaskay said.
The superintendent would not confirm whether the employee is a teacher, but released the following statement.
“These investigations take time and we will keep the community informed when new information comes to light. Unfortunately, due to confidentiality concerns, we are not at liberty to release any more information at this time,” said Dr. Todd Keruskin.
The police chief is working with the District Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges will be filed.
