WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — As shots rang out during the first night of Phantom Fall Fest at Kennywood Park, people inside the park scrambled to get out, jumping fences, with the scene described as chaotic.

Those were terrifying moments for Stacy Tillman, who was at Kennywood Park for the opening night of the park’s Phantom Fall Fest with her friend.

“We didn’t know what was going on. We didn’t know if there was still an active shooter,” Tillman told Channel 11.

Tillman said they were doing one last ride on the Musik Express when shots rang out.

Three people were hit— two 15-year-old boys and a 39-year-old man.

Once the ride stopped, Tillman witnessed the aftermath of the violence.

“We got on the ride, buckled in. And about two minutes into the ride, shots fired around us. We heard two shots. Talk about feeling helpless,” Tillman said. “Nobody knew what was going on. Only the people that were on the ride saw what was going on and knew. We saw the blood and saw the guy laying there.”

Tillman told Channel 11 that everyone rushed to the exits through a tunnel — and that became a dangerous situation.

“We just took off running as fast as we could. And then we had to hug the wall getting out of there to avoid being trampled because everyone started running,” Tillman said.

Police said several people may have been trampled and received minor injuries.

After this ordeal, Tillman said it might be a while before she returns to Kennywood.

“I don’t know, I just don’t know. Maybe not late at night, but I guess things can happen like this anytime. Probably going to be a while if I do venture over there,” Tillman said.
