PITTSBURGH — Channel 11 got exclusive video of a car that went over a hill, hit a pole and landed on its roof at the end of a police chase in Beltzhoover.
Allegheny County dispatch said crews were called to Zara Street around 10 a.m. Thursday morning. One person was taken to the hospital from the scene.
Neighbors said they heard a loud bang after a car went flying down their street, went over this hillside, crashed into a staircase and then landed on a street below in Beltzhoover and the whole thing was caught on camera.
“Yeah that video is crazy that doesn’t make sense where was he going,” neighbor Anthony Edwards said.
Pittsburgh Police officers are then seen swarming the car and moments later, police take a man into custody. The man did not appear to be seriously hurt. One person was taken to the hospital. Neighbors said what they saw.
“Just the two cop cars and a neighbor down there said there’s a car flipped over on the side,” said neighbor Reggie Wright.
Channel 11 was there on scene as the car was being towed away.
“It’s a shame. Things like that happen,” Edwards said.
Crews fixed the utility pole, and the broken staircase was blocked off. Many neighbors said they are shocked by this because it’s normally a very quiet street.
“Very quiet, calm. It’s easy-going. How did you not know there’s an end down there unless you were doing something wrong?” Edwards questioned.
Neighbors said this could have been a lot worse because a lot of families and kids live and play on this street.
“It’s a small street. This is not the place for something like that right here not at all,” Edwards said.
Right now, Pittsburgh Police said this is an ongoing investigation.
