PITTSBURGH — A local man remains in critical condition after he was shot in the head early Sunday morning in Lawrenceville.

Malcolm Nowlin, 26, was working security at the Dijlah Restaurant and Hookah Lounge when he was shot.

Malcolm’s family tells Channel 11 that he is still on a ventilator and has a long road ahead.

“Malcolm Isaiah is fighting for his life,” his father, also named Malcolm, said. “We have taken a warrior stance. We are fighting for our son. We are people of faith and we believe with everything in us that the Lord can raise him up.”

Nowlin says his son had taken the security gig as a side job. He primarily works at Silky’s Pub in Bloomfield.

The restaurant is holding a promotion. All purchases of Malcolm’s Patty Melt send $5 directly to his family.

“For Silky’s to do this for our son, to recognize him, honor him, to value him in this way, we are forever grateful.”

Malcolm’s family says they are still waiting for updates on the investigation, but have a message for the person who pulled the trigger.

“There’s a lot of things I could say. I’ll just say turn yourself in.”

We have reached out to Pittsburgh Police for more information but did not hear back as of airtime.
