TARENTUM — After detectives searched for DaShawn Frederick for several days, he’s now behind bars at the Allegheny County Jail.

Investigators tell Channel 11 he shot and killed Arquwonna “Q” Wright, the mother of his 5-month-old child.

Wright died earlier in December. Her friends told us this week that she was a mother of two and had moved to Tarentum for a fresh start.

According to police, Frederick, who is on active duty in the Army, was on leave and spending time in Pittsburgh. He is stationed in Hawaii.

Investigators say he went to Wright’s apartment on Dec. 16. Neighbors say they heard an argument, multiple gunshots, then saw Wright lying on the ground.

Police say Frederick bought two guns two days before Wright’s death.

Officers say surveillance video shows Wright walking toward Frederick’s rented car and then falling onto the street.

Frederick allegedly returned the rented car to the airport days after the shooting before turning himself in to county police.

He is being held in jail without bond, and his next hearing is in January.
