‘Pierogi Party’ in Fayette County helps feed local seniors

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — Volunteers met at the Uniontown Senior Center Saturday to prepare over 1,000 hand-made pierogis.

The pierogis will be used to feed over 200 local senior citizens in Fayette County in the coming weeks.

Retired Pennsylvania State Rep. Matthew Dowling and his wife, Rebecca, provided the ingredients, recipe and instructions to volunteers.

“Our party is benefiting senior citizens across Fayette County,” Dowling said. “Making over 1,000 pierogis. Our goal was to have 30 volunteers, we’re nearly double that.”

In total, over 1,300 pierogis were made in about three hours at the event.
