John Fetterman released a health report from his primary care physician Wednesday that states the lieutenant governor is “recovering well from his stroke” and concludes that he “has no work restrictions and can work full duty in public office.”
Fetterman, who is in a tight Senate race against Dr. Mehmet Oz, has faced scrutiny about his health after having a stroke in May.
In the report, UPMC Dr. Clifford Chen reports that during Fetterman’s physical exam, performed Oct. 14, his vital signs were normal and he had no strength, coordination or cognitive deficits.

The doctor said his speech was normal and although he exhibits signs of a hearing difficulty, occasional words Fetterman may “miss” are actually an auditory processing disorder. His communication skills have improved since the stroke, said Chen, who added that Fetterman’s lab results are good.
Nick Clemens, spokesperson for the Oz campaign provided the following statement to Channel 11 following the release of Fetterman’s health report:
“That’s good news that John Fetterman’s doctor gave him a clean bill of health. The bad news is that John Fetterman still supports releasing convicted murderers out on our streets and has zero explanation for why he didn’t pay his taxes 67 times. Now that he is apparently healthy, he should be able to commit to more than just one 60-minute debate and start taking live questions from voters and reporters.”
Both Fetterman and Oz have been campaigning in the area recently.
The candidates will debate only on Channel 11 on Oct. 25.
