VANDERGRIFT, Pa. — Three men are recovering in local hospitals after a shooting inside a local bar early Sunday morning.
Police say a physical fight between two men inside Anthony’s on Longfellow Street led to gunfire. A third man, who was a bystander at the bar, was also shot.

“Chaos,” is how Daniel Daugherty described the early morning hours on Sunday when police responded to the scene. He lives just a few houses away from Anthony’s bar.
“I was sitting inside, and the thing that got my attention were the police cars come rushing past my house. I went out to look and all these people were standing out in front of the bar,” Daugherty said.
Neighbors said police were on scene for more than three hours.
Investigators tell Channel 11′s Andrew Havranek that the shooting started after a physical fight between two men inside the bar. Both of those men had guns and started shooting each other.
A third man who was a bystander was also shot.
One of the men involved in the fight was taken in a personal car to Allegheny Valley Hospital and then later taken to Allegheny General.
The other man and the injured bystander were taken to Forbes Regional Hospital.
Some neighbors aren’t surprised.
“You know... I’m upstairs, and you hear people fighting, this and that. You always think sooner or later, [in] this day and age, you hear it every day, people getting shot this and that. Not like when I grew up in the 60s,” said Steven Zatko who lives in an apartment above Anthony’s. “You had a fistfight, you put your arms around each other, had a beer, and it was forgotten. Those fist fights are done.”
Zatko wasn’t home when the shooting happened, but he said he feels bad for the bar’s owners.
“Yeah, it’s too bad. He doesn’t want that,” Zatko said. “His dad had this bar for years and this place was always packed three deep. They’re good people, that’s the truth.”
It’s not believed any of the injuries from the shooting are life-threatening. Police say the investigation is still ongoing and they are working with Westmoreland County detectives. No charges have been filed at this time.
