BRACKENRIDGE, Pa. — Wednesday was another emotional day for the community of Brackenridge as they said their final goodbyes to fallen Police Chief Justin McIntire.

The funeral service began at noon at Mount Saint Peter Catholic Church in New Kensington.

The service was followed by a procession down Freeport Road through Brackenridge so as many people as possible had an opportunity to take a moment and pay tribute to McIntire.
Highlands School District had a day of remote learning so students had an opportunity to attend the service.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers from all over the country attended the funeral to pay their respects to the chief.

While some attendees knew McIntire, many did not but wanted to show their support.
“It’s not a small loss, that’s for sure it’s a great loss for the community, a great loss to police all around,” said Sgt. Nathan Ferree with Greene County Regional Police.
You could feel the heavy hearts as hundreds of officers stood outside the church to say one final goodbye to their fallen hero Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire.
Former Allegheny County councilman Ed Kress told our partners at the Trib that he is looking for sponsors to print more “We Support Our Police” yard signs for the community. More than 1,000 signs have already been distributed. For more information, click here.
